PATIENT BEWARE – True Story

The other day I was casually talking with my friend and sharing her family woes. Her mother-in-law had just received a mastectomy after a diagnosis of breast cancer. After the surgery she decided to go for chemotherapy.

The day arrived and she showed up at the hospital at the appointed time. She was whisked away, had the treatment and before going home, was given a paper with further appointments and follow-up. She went back home. The next day she got the paper out and noticed that somebody else’s name was on it! She called the doctor and told him. He told her to come to the hospital immediately to see him.

You guessed it! Sure enough – she had received somebody else’s treatment, and it wasn’t even chemotherapy after all! My friend seemed relieved that the treatment she actually received had to do with some bone density treatment, but the shocking truth remained – she had received somebody else’s treatment. And SOMEONE ELSE GOT HER CHEMOTHERAPY!!!

My question – WHO GOT HER CHEMOTHERAPY???

Arthur and I cannot emphasize strongly enough that we all must take charge of our own health. Ask questions – ask to see your files (they are YOURS, not the doctor’s) – do some research – don’t leave it up to someone else.

Here in Canada, the February Reader’s Digest had a very interesting article entitled “Will the Hospital Make You Sick?” This is an amazing eye-opener into what we are actually faced with when we enter the Hospital.

“Hospitals have become a breeding ground for deadly bacteria, including drug-resistant superbugs.” The areas where we pick up these bugs include stethoscopes, IV pumps, catheters, bed linens, scissors, call bells, bedside tables, narcotics cabinet keys, gowns, gloves etc. “According to the Community and Hospital Infection Control Association of Canada, about 200,000 patients this year will suffer infected surgical wounds, blood infections and antibiotic-resistant organisms picked up after they are admitted to hospital. That exceeds the expected incidence of new cancer cases.” Infections could be caused by the patient’s own bacteria entering a surgical wound, but “the biggest culprit in hospital-based infections is not antibiotic resistance but a failure in standard hygiene.”

The new super-bug Vancomycin-resistant enterococcus (VRE) is a real concern in hospitals because it can live for days in the environment, enabling it to be passed from one patient to the next via the nurse or other items not normally sterilized. Hospital cut-backs, fewer staff, less hand washing, and a very sick person combine to form a recipe for disaster. Another complicating factor is that the Ottawa Hospital has mounted alcohol hand gel dispensers outside most patient rooms. This replaces the soap.

What do you say about this, Dr. Clark? (Isopropyl Alcohol allows the multiplication of parasites in the other organs of the body, rather than in the intestines where they can be eliminated naturally)

GREAT QUESTION regarding the January newsletter:

One of our readers wrote: “Your news email–which I thoroughly enjoyed, by the way, said: ‘Grasses are a complete life sustaining food. If you had to choose one food for survival it ought to be grass. After all, grass is the primary food for domestic and wild grazing animals..and pretty large ones at that…cows, horses, goats, sheep, buffalo, deer, and giraffes.’ Question: Grasses ARE good for grazing animals, but humans are constructed differently inside. As far as PEOPLE are concerned, there are what are known as “essential oils/fats” and “essential proteins,” which are “essential” because they cannot be metabolized from anything but actual oils/fats and proteins. So how does Barleygreen provide those essential nutrients without which humans cannot thrive? Thanks’

Lyn’s Answer:

There is such a thing as Essential Fatty Acids which we require as humans. I have read that some authorities think that only 1% of the daily intake of food need be the essential fatty acids. I will quote from the book entitled “Components of Total Health” by Cyndi Thomas, ND: “Mother’s milk contains only 4% of fat, on which a baby will double in body weight during the first six months of its life. After that time, the body’s demand for fat is much less as the growth rate decreases tremendously.”

She goes on to explain that all “real foods” contain fats in different concentrations, and on the list are vegetables which contain 0.1-1.0% fat. Nuts and seeds are the most plentiful in fatty acids. Our body uses them mainly for the manufacturing of adrenalin and hormones, as a factor in growth and reproduction, and for normal glandular activity. So – assuming that the human baby (or animal) were breast fed, and received the perfect fat at the most important time of their life, and if vegetables do contain between .1-1.0 % fat, then one could conceivably get the minimum requirement of fat if Barleygreen were the only food one could eat.

The Barleygreen data sheet states that Barleygreen contains Vitamin F which is an essential unsaturated fatty acid, and overall fat content is 3%. From my study, there is no such thing as “Essential Proteins”. There are “Essential Amino Acids” which are found in Barleygreen fresh vegetables and fruits. Your body will put these amino acids together to make up the kinds of proteins it needs.

Quoting from Cyndi Thomas again: “The body cannot use or assimilate protein in its original state. The protein must first be digested and broken down into amino acids. From these the body will assimilate and construct its own proteins depending on its protein needs at the time…It is the amino acids for which we eat protein….By definition a complete protein is a single food that contains all eight of the essential amino acids…It is not necessary to have a complete protein choice, either as a single food, or in combination at every meal. The body has what is termed an amino acid pool in the blood and liver. It is here that the excess amino acids are stored, both essential and non-essential, for use by the cells as needed.”

She then gives a very convincing argument that vegetable source protein is easy to digest and assimilate and provides an adequate supply for human needs. Barleygreen contains all the 8 essential amino acids and therefore would constitute a perfect source for protein for the body.

Tooth Grinding

The American Medical Association’s publication “Today’s Health” (53/1:12, 1975) says:

Tooth grinding (bruxism) is largely an unconscious habit that can damage teeth, and breaking the habit has often been a frustrating problem for both patient and dentist. Recently a simple, new method has been suggested by Marvin P. Levin, DDS, and William Ayer, DDS, at the US Army Inst. Of Dental Research, Walter Reid Army Medical Center, Washington, DC.

14 bruxism patients were instructed simply to clench their teeth together as hard as possible for 5 seconds ad then relax the jaw for 5 seconds. To repeat the procedure 5 times and to continue the exercise 6 times daily for 2 weeks.

Within 10 days 11 of the 14 had successfully eliminated the grinding, and thus far, for 6 months, have not resumed the habit.

I bought your Auto-Zap (two of them) three weeks ago and am so pleased with the results! I had been suffering with eczema on my hands for 3 years. After the first treatment the results started! I got back from China in early September of 2001. About four months later, Every muscle in my body hurt. When I would try to massage them they hurt more. I thought I was getting MS or something. I came across Dr. Clark’s site one day while surfing the web, and read about Parasites in Pork. While in China, I ate lots of Pork, and other things.

A New Look at Barleygreen, Part II

Barleygreen is a powerful immune booster and contains potent antioxidants. One of these antioxidants is called alpha-tocopherol succinate which may be responsible for much of the barley plant’s anti-tumor action.

Though its mechanism is unknown, laboratory tests show that alpha tocopherol succinate seems to inhibit several types of cancer including leukemia, brain tumors and prostate cancer. Leukemic cancer cells were exposed to dehydrated barley grass extract which killed virtually all of them. Encouraged, the researchers then subjected brain cancer cells to the extract. It eradicated 30-50% of these cells. In the third trial, the extract inhibited the growth of three types of prostate cancer cells by up to 100%.

TEENAGERS
