Antibiotics May Not Aid Sinus Infections

CHICAGO - Just in time for runny nose season, new research suggests routine sinus infections aren't really helped by
antibiotics and other medicine that's often prescribed.

In the British study, people suffering from facial pain and a runny nose with greenish or yellowish mucous generally improved within about two weeks -- whether they took the standard antibiotic amoxicillin, steroid nose spray or fake medicine.

The results, based on patients' reporting whether their symptoms had improved, echo previous findings in children.
Antibiotics, particularly the penicillin-like drug amoxicillin, are among the most commonly prescribed medicines for sinus
infections.

Steroid sprays sometimes are used, but the study found they also were no better than dummy drugs, although they appeared to provide some relief for patients with only minor symptoms.

The study should lead to a "reconsideration of antibiotic use for acute sinusitis. The current view that antibiotics are effective can now be challenged, particularly for the routine cases which physicians treat," said lead author Dr. Ian Williamson of the University of Southampton in England...

Chinese Apple Juice Imports Causing Concern

While it may seem as American as apple pie, much of the apple juice filling those juice boxes and jugs on U.S. grocery shelves comes from China.

Over the past 10 years, China, which produces up to 65 percent of the world's apples, has become the top supplier of concentrate used in apple juice sold in the U.S., contributing more than 40 percent of the juice consumed here, compared with 22 percent from domestically produced apples, according to the U.S. Apple Association trade group.

Both U.S. producers who use the foreign concentrate and fruit trade groups say the individual companies and the federal
government insist that suppliers follow strict safety standards. Several firms said they also have auditors test the imported
juice as well as conducting their own tests.

[Note from Arthur: Read the label carefully to see where your apple juice comes from. The source country is required to be listed, but may be hard to find. If it says "China," you might want to zappicate your apple juice just to make sure that any "extra" ingredients are dealt with before you drink it]

Want Vaccines At Gunpoint?

The Public Health Council in New Jersey has voted to require all children attending preschool or daycare to be injected with not just one vaccine, but four different vaccines. If this rule goes into effect -- and political momentum is certainly in its favor -- New Jersey would be the first U.S. state to make the vaccination of children required by law. This means that those parents who refuse to participate in such vaccination programs would be labeled "criminals" and arrested at gunpoint.

The health experts in New Jersey backing these vaccines claim there's absolutely no evidence showing that the chemicals used in the vaccines -- which include trace amounts of neurotoxic mercury -- are in any way harmful or linked to autism. These are the same people, of course, who say that mass fluoridation of public water supplies with a toxic waste chemical misnamed "fluoride" is also perfectly safe. And mercury dental fillings are safe, too, if you can believe that. In fact, there's hardly a chemical or heavy metal being used in public health today that isn't safe enough to be injected into the bodies of children, if you believe these so-called health "experts."

What they don't seem to recognize is that virtually every study conducted on the "safety" of these chemicals has been
fraudulently conducted and influenced by industry. It is in the interests of powerful corporations (drug companies and chemical manufacturers) to keep the public hoodwinked over the dangers of toxic chemicals. So even though any rational person taking a look at the data can see a link between autism and vaccines, Big Pharma has managed to pull enough strings to keep the people in power parroting their standard excuse: "There's no convincing evidence linking autism and vaccines."
