The other day I was casually talking with my friend and sharing her family woes. Her mother-in-law had just received a mastectomy after a diagnosis of breast cancer. After the surgery she decided to go for chemotherapy.

The day arrived and she showed up at the hospital at the appointed time. She was whisked away, had the treatment and before going home, was given a paper with further appointments and follow-up. She went back home. The next day she got the paper out and noticed that somebody else’s name was on it! She called the doctor and told him. He told her to come to the hospital immediately to see him.

You guessed it! Sure enough – she had received somebody else’s treatment, and it wasn’t even chemotherapy after all! My friend seemed relieved that the treatment she actually received had to do with some bone density treatment, but the shocking truth remained – she had received somebody else’s treatment. And SOMEONE ELSE GOT HER CHEMOTHERAPY!!!

Arthur and I cannot emphasize strongly enough that we all must take charge of our own health. Ask questions – ask to see your files (they are YOURS, not the doctor’s) – do some research – don’t leave it up to someone else.

By the way, we received an overwhelming response to our last ZapTimes where we offered to fax out the MSDS on Heliomolar by Ivoclar, a white filling substance widely used in alternative dentistry that actually contains “continuous Fluoride release.”

If any of you still want us to fax it to you, email us and include your fax number. We will keep you updated in this newsletter when we receive more information on the potential danger to our health.

Here in Canada, the February Reader’s Digest had a very interesting article entitled “Will the Hospital Make You Sick?” This is an amazing eye-opener into what we are actually faced with when we enter the Hospital.

“Hospitals have become a breeding ground for deadly bacteria, including drug-resistant superbugs.” The areas where we pick up these bugs include stethoscopes, IV pumps, catheters, bed linens, scissors, call bells, bedside tables, narcotics cabinet keys, gowns, gloves etc. “According to the Community and Hospital Infection Control Association of Canada, about 200,000 patients this year will suffer infected surgical wounds, blood infections and antibiotic-resistant organisms picked up after they are admitted to hospital. That exceeds the expected incidence of new cancer cases.” Infections could be caused by the patient’s own bacteria entering a surgical wound, but “the biggest culprit in hospital-based infections is not antibiotic resistance but a failure in standard hygiene.”

The new super-bug Vancomycin-resistant enterococcus (VRE) is a real concern in hospitals because it can live for days in the environment, enabling it to be passed from one patient to the next via the nurse or other items not normally sterilized. Hospital cut-backs, fewer staff, less hand washing, and a very sick person combine to form a recipe for disaster. Another complicating factor is that the Ottawa Hospital has mounted alcohol hand gel dispensers outside most patient rooms. This replaces the soap.

What do you say about this, Dr. Clark? (Isopropyl Alcohol allows the multiplication of parasites in the other organs of the body, rather than in the intestines where they can be eliminated naturally)

GREAT QUESTION regarding the January newsletter:

One of our readers wrote: “Your news email–which I thoroughly enjoyed, by the way, said: ‘Grasses are a complete life sustaining food. If you had to choose one food for survival it ought to be grass. After all, grass is the primary food for domestic and wild grazing animals..and pretty large ones at that…cows, horses, goats, sheep, buffalo, deer, and giraffes.’ Question: Grasses ARE good for grazing animals, but humans are constructed differently inside. As far as PEOPLE are concerned, there are what are known as “essential oils/fats” and “essential proteins,” which are “essential” because they cannot be metabolized from anything but actual oils/fats and proteins. So how does Barleygreen provide those essential nutrients without which humans cannot thrive? Thanks’

Lyn’s Answer:

There is such a thing as Essential Fatty Acids which we require as humans. I have read that some authorities think that only 1% of the daily intake of food need be the essential fatty acids. I will quote from the book entitled “Components of Total Health” by Cyndi Thomas, ND: “Mother’s milk contains only 4% of fat, on which a baby will double in body weight during the first six months of its life. After that time, the body’s demand for fat is much less as the growth rate decreases tremendously.”

She goes on to explain that all “real foods” contain fats in different concentrations, and on the list are vegetables which contain 0.1-1.0% fat. Nuts and seeds are the most plentiful in fatty acids. Our body uses them mainly for the manufacturing of adrenalin and hormones, as a factor in growth and reproduction, and for normal glandular activity. So – assuming that the human baby (or animal) were breast fed, and received the perfect fat at the most important time of their life, and if vegetables do contain between .1-1.0 % fat, then one could conceivably get the minimum requirement of fat if Barleygreen were the only food one could eat.

The Barleygreen data sheet states that Barleygreen contains Vitamin F which is an essential unsaturated fatty acid, and overall fat content is 3%. From my study, there is no such thing as “Essential Proteins”. There are “Essential Amino Acids” which are found in Barleygreen fresh vegetables and fruits. Your body will put these amino acids together to make up the kinds of proteins it needs.

Quoting from Cyndi Thomas again: “The body cannot use or assimilate protein in its original state. The protein must first be digested and broken down into amino acids. From these the body will assimilate and construct its own proteins depending on its protein needs at the time…It is the amino acids for which we eat protein….By definition a complete protein is a single food that contains all eight of the essential amino acids…It is not necessary to have a complete protein choice, either as a single food, or in combination at every meal. The body has what is termed an amino acid pool in the blood and liver. It is here that the excess amino acids are stored, both essential and non-essential, for use by the cells as needed.”

She then gives a very convincing argument that vegetable source protein is easy to digest and assimilate and provides an adequate supply for human needs. Barleygreen contains all the 8 essential amino acids and therefore would constitute a perfect source for protein for the body.

Tooth Grinding

The American Medical Association’s publication “Today’s Health” (53/1:12, 1975) says:

Tooth grinding (bruxism) is largely an unconscious habit that can damage teeth, and breaking the habit has often been a frustrating problem for both patient and dentist. Recently a simple, new method has been suggested by Marvin P. Levin, DDS, and William Ayer, DDS, at the US Army Inst. Of Dental Research, Walter Reid Army Medical Center, Washington, DC.

14 bruxism patients were instructed simply to clench their teeth together as hard as possible for 5 seconds ad then relax the jaw for 5 seconds. To repeat the procedure 5 times and to continue the exercise 6 times daily for 2 weeks.

Within 10 days 11 of the 14 had successfully eliminated the grinding, and thus far, for 6 months, have not resumed the habit.

Dr. Clark is on sabbatical right now, presently traveling in Spain.

I bought your Auto-Zap (two of them) three weeks ago and am so pleased with the results! I had been suffering with eczema on my hands for 3 years. After the first treatment the results started! I have had the best two weeks of the last three years, as far as being comfortable, high energy and feeling that ALL IS WELL!

The second zapper was bought by a colon hygienist to whom I go. She too has seen positive results and will be sharing it with people on her caseload. I think this is going to be exciting.
My husband has even started using it and is having some relief from a respiratory condition.
Thank you and I hope you are seeing the success and joy from your part in this wonderful experience.

Love and light,

I got back from China in early September of 2001. About four months later, Every muscle in my body hurt. When I would try to massage them they hurt more. I thought I was getting MS or something. I came across Dr. Clark’s site one day while surfing the web, and read about Parasites in Pork. While in China, I ate lots of Pork, and other things.

To make a long story short, I did a Parasite Cleanse, and about 5 days into the cleanse, all of my aches and pains went away. THANK YOU, Dr. Clark.!!!!! I don’t know what I would have done without your information.

Dear Sir,
Thank you for [the] Zap. Yours is [the] very best. I tested several zappers in laboratory setting. I will sell and buy many more “Zap”… My terminal ill patients responded very positively. Recovery noticeable…

A New Look at Barleygreen, Part II

by Jann Abrams, R.N. and Janet Pauly R.N

Lyn’s Note: We could not include the entire article, but if you would like to finish reading the rest before our next newsletter or if you need to pick up what you missed last time, please e-mail us at ad7 (at) and we will get it out to you. We have an excellent audio tape of Janet Pauly’s own miraculous recovery from cancer using Barleygreen. It is FREE for anyone who e-mails us for it.

Barleygreen is a powerful immune booster and contains potent antioxidants. One of these antioxidants is called alpha-tocopherol succinate which may be responsible for much of the barley plant’s anti-tumor action.

Though its mechanism is unknown, laboratory tests show that alpha tocopherol succinate seems to inhibit several types of cancer including leukemia, brain tumors and prostate cancer. Leukemic cancer cells were exposed to dehydrated barley grass extract which killed virtually all of them. Encouraged, the researchers then subjected brain cancer cells to the extract. It eradicated 30-50% of these cells. In the third trial, the extract inhibited the growth of three types of prostate cancer cells by up to 100%.
Allen L. Goldstein, Ph.D., chairman of the Biochemistry Dept at George Washington School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Washington, D.C. (our note: now a Barleygreen user)

“Barleygreen is one of the highest natural sources of the enzyme superoxide dismutase (SOD), a super scavenger enzyme, that destroys damaging free radicals and contributes to longevity. (Most SOD on the market is extracted from the liver of cattle.) Barleygreen also contains D1G1 and P4D1, which make SOD even more effective. Discovered by Dr. K. Kabota, Chairman, Dept. of Pharmacology Science University of Tokyo.

“Glycosylisovitexin, 2′-0-GIV, is a powerful new antioxidant in Barleygreen, recently discovered by Takayuki Shibamoto, Ph.D., professor and former chair of the department of Environmental Toxicology at the University of California-Davis, who has published over 200 scientific papers. 2′-0-GIV is an isoflavonoid that is both water and fat-soluble and is capable of preventing atherosclerosis. Studies show it may also play a preventive role in aging, mutagenesis, carcinogenesis and radiation damage (this should interest pilots, and others whose jobs expose them to radiation. Tests showed that 2′-0-GIV was NOT present in a sampling of green powders tested: Viva Green Barley, Kyo-Green, Pines Wheat Grass, Green Kamut, Spirulina and Sun Chlorella. Inhibition of Malonaidehyde Formation by Antioxidants Ogata, Hagiwara, H. Hagiwara, Shibota JAOCS, Vol. 73, No 5, 1996

“Barleygreen is a great aid in bringing the body back into a proper acid-alkaline balance. Spinach has an alkalinity of about 39.6 and Barleygreen is as high as 66.4.

“Barleygreen is a rich source of chlorophyll. Chlorophyll “increases the functions of the heart, affects the vascular system, the intestines, the uterus and the lungs. It raises the basic nitrogen exchange and is therefore a tonic which, considering its stimulating properties cannot be compared with any other.” Food Science for All, New Sunlight theory for Nutrition, E. Bircher, Health Research Press. Chlorophyll may provide us with protection from low level X-ray radiation. Experiments in the 1950’s demonstrated that radiation- poisoned guinea pigs recovered when chlorophyll rich vegetables were added to their diet. The Influence of Diet on the Biological Effects of Whole Body Radiation M. Lartique, Experimental, 6:25, 1950 and Further Studies on Reduction of x-irradiation of Guinea Pigs by Plant Materials, Quartermaster Food and Container Institute for the Armed Forces Report. N.R. 12-61 by D.H. Calloway, W.K. Calhoun & A.H. Munson, 1961

“Barleygreen is anti-inflammatory, anti-ulcer, lowers blood sugar levels and increases endurance according to Dr. Kazuhiko Kuboto, Ph.D. He has performed extensive research on barley leaf extract and discovered many pharmacological functions including those mentioned above.

“Into which of these categories do you fall?

1) Those in excellent health: Barleygreen is the perfect supplement for multi-vitamin/minerals. It will give you the competitive edge on endurance, and general vitality.

2) Those with marginal deficiencies of micro-nutrients produce no real symptoms.but they do affect your mental acuity, your ability to cope with stress, and your body’s ability to resist disease and recover from surgery.

3) Those who have major deficiencies: skin inflammation, diarrhea, convulsions in infants (vitamin B1 deficiency), loss of feeling in arms and legs, extreme fatigue, night blindness, frequent illnesses, severe allergies.

“Many drugs, both over-the-counter and prescription, interfere with vitamin and mineral absorption and increase micronutrient requirements. For example, laxatives and mineral oil deplete your body of fat-soluble vitamins. Aspirin impairs the utilization of vitamin C and folic acid. Oral contraceptives deplete folic acid, vitamins B6, B12, C and beta-carotene. Deficiency of folic acid and beta-carotene contribute to cervical cancer.

“Many studies have been conducted on the effects of nutrients on intelligence. When children’s diets were supplemented with vitamins and minerals, their I. Q’s were raised. The implication is obvious: the marginal deficiencies seen in some young children are enough to hamper neural function in these children. Other studies have shown that marginal vitamin and mineral deficiencies are associated with poor motivation, abnormalities in attention and perception and personality changes.” Charles B. Simone, M.D.

“Barleygreen can be put in children’s juice or milk. Some children enjoy spooning it dry into their mouths. Barleygreen can be mixed with water and put in a dropper and fed to infants. It can also be put into baby bottles. Many older children enjoy mixing their Barleygreen themselves using the hand blender. Some children like the Garden Trio more than Barleygreen by itself. Using a straw is fun and helps bypass the taste buds! Janet’s grandson has been eating Tablespoonfuls of dry Barleygreen at a time since age 2 with no adverse affects.

“Studies show that there is a prevalence of nutrient deficiencies in teenagers secondary to dieting for weight control, increased physical activities with P.E. and sports activities, greater stress levels, rapid growth, heavier scholastic requirements etc. Many teens skip meals, snack, and often eat meals away from home. About 50% of all teens report that they are not concerned about nutrition and only 33% say that they try to eat correctly. A Tablespoonful of Barleygreen every day could help meet teens nutritional requirements, improve their stamina and coping abilities and even improve their grades.

“There are well over 30 million senior citizens in the U.S. alone and this segment of the population is growing. Those who have adopted a healthy lifestyle can remain active and productive. (About 50,000 seniors in the U.S. are still drawing a paycheck at age 90) Those who do not choose a healthy lifestyle will probably spend the last few years of their life being cared for by others. Factors that affect their nutritional health are decreased caloric intake, impaired absorption, poor dentition, drug/ nutrient interactions, limited activities or handicaps, low income, altered taste perception, loneliness, lack of transportation or any combination of these.

“The National Cancer Institute has presented studies which show that with every 5-year increase of age, there is a doubling of the incidence of cancer. The elderly often suffer from nutritional deficiencies which are manifested by a weakened immune system which leaves them prey to respiratory infections, pneumonia, urinary tract infections, Shingles and other serious health problems. Because the gastrointestinal tract absorbs nutrients less efficiently with age, the elderly need more nutrients in their diet. One or two of AIM’s PrepZymes with each meal will assure good digestions and absorption. Barleygreen is particularly well suited for this age group because it requires little preparation (as quick as a cup of instant tea), is assimilated very quickly and efficiently if taken on an empty stomach, no chewing is required, is easy to store, and, most of all, provides the complete spectrum of nutrients.

“Pregnant and nursing mothers require nutrients in greater amounts than the R.D.A. Unfortunately many of these women do not have a sufficient intake. Healthy cells with healthy DNA result in healthier sperm and ovum, which in turn produces a healthy baby. Janet’s daughter, Michelle, took only Barleygreen as a prenatal supplement and delivered a healthy 8 lb. 4 oz. baby boy. Her midwife looked at the ingredients in Barleygreen and assured her that this was all she would need. When Michelle pumped her breasts her milk looked like Half-and Half with a quarter inch of cream on top that would have to be shaken and mixed before giving to the baby. Michelle quit taking Barleygreen for one week and the appearance of the milk changed drastically. It looked like skim milk with fat globules suspended in it and it had no cream on top. When she resumed the Barleygreen, her milk returned to cream. Moms who graze on Barleygreen have contented babies!”
